Conversation

Conversation involves multiple components that work together to create effective communication. A well established mand (request), tact (label/comment), and intraverbal repertoire is required to engage in reciprocal conversational exchanges. Effective speakers convey their message clearly and engage the listener, while attentive listeners communicate that the speaker’s message is heard, and understood. Component skills within this global focus area (domain) include but are not limited to orienting toward conversational partner, initiating conversation, making comments, and asking follow up questions.
